The workshop “The Musical Body” (2017)

In the léwòz, a Guadeloupean cultural event, the dancer enters a circle in close contact with one of the percussionists, the makè, who improvises from the rhythms of the Gwo-Ka.

In this specific relationship, the dancer does not simply follow the makè. He suggests and imposes changes and risk-taking in the creation of musical development.

This special place given to dance, in symbiotic dialogue with music, is at the heart of Léo Lérus' research.

This workshop is an opening to a certain sense of groove, to an awareness in the choice of the dancer's movements and their impact on their environment, to create a musical body.

Project supported by the DAC Guadeloupe and having benefited from the “La Fabrique Chaillot” residency scheme - Chaillot – Théâtre National de la Danse (Paris)
